Grimm Tales: Snow White Remixed, Octagon Theatre, 2019 (Youth Theatre)

Snow White but not as you know it. A feminist retelling of the classic Brothers Grimm tale, this fun, funked up version takes issue with the lack of agency afforded to fairy tale heroines and revisions Snow White as a story in which the titular heroine learns to be a little bit savvier and question what she’s told, with the help of the Seven Sassy Sisters and the hapless Prince Walliams.

An ensemble style show incorporating a high-octane soundtrack, choreographed dance sequences and magical puppetry, Grimm Tales: Snow White was devised and performed by a cast of twelve young people aged 8-12 as part of the Octagon Theatre’s annual theatre summer school.

Grimm Tales: Snow White Remixed

A formative influence on me as an artist was ‘90’s northern, rave culture, which gave me a deep love for the kind of party where rhythm, uncontained joy and wearing whatever the f*** you want was the norm.
