Today These Streets Are Ours (Community Musical)

Kieran is a local Beswick teenager who’s just graduated high school. He should be on top of the world but his dad’s recent death has left him lost and uncertain of his future. Madge is a retired, East Manchester old-timer with a reputation for being ‘a bit odd’ on account of her rubbish collecting habits. This unusual pair form an unlikely alliance as they collaborate to counter the sudden appearance of BoF graffiti tags in their seemingly forgotten part of town. But all is not as it seems and as the hot summer wears on, secrets rise to the surface, leading to an unexpected confrontation with the law.

Co-created with the people of East Manchester, Today The Streets Are Ours is a brand-new musical, written by Joshua Val Martin especially for the East Manchester Community Festival. A joyful celebration of life in M11 produced by Royal Exchange Theatre and performed by professional actors and local community music groups.

Today These Streets Are Ours

George Orwell said that, ‘Manchester is the belly and guts of the nation’ and that is a sentiment I wholeheartedly agree with.
